1. Location

Anseong locates far south of Gyeonggi Province, adjacent to Pyungtaek on west, Ichon on northeast, Cheonan on south, and Yongin on north.
National road #38 with 4 lanes is crossing from Pyungtaek to Kangwon Province, and Kyungbu & Jungbu highways are crossing north to south on west and east side of town respectively.
The city locates at a longitude of 127¢ª 06¡Ç east and latitude of 36¢ª 54¡Ç north.

2. Geographical feature

(1) Geographical feature
- Charyung mountains with an overall shape of higher northeast and gentle slope of southwest divide the area into two parts of east and west. Chungmee creek flows in the east, and three creeks, - Anseong, Choryung and Han - combine together and flow to the Yellow Sea in the west.
- Seowun Mountain (547m) in the south makes a border with Chungchung Province, and there are several high and low mountains all around the city. The southeast of the city is of hills that are in the age of middle or old, and has a wide plain field with several rivers.

(2) Geographical Position
- There are three branches starting from Duksung mountain of the Charyung mountains on the border of Chung-Buk Jinchun; one is Seowun mountain(547m) on the west, another is connected to Baekwun mountain(345m), and Maiee mountain(471m) toward the east., the last one is connected to Beebong mountain(230m), which is standing in the middle of town, and forms Sigung mountain(514m), Chunduk mountain(355m), Dukam mountain(163m), Gosung mountain(298m), and Baekryunbong (239m).
- Mountain area consists of 52% of Anseong's total area, and forms a hill area at the levels of less and more of 500 meters above the sea from the long corrosion after the Jurassic era.

(3) Nature of soil
- Anseong's soil is most of granite from the Jurassic era. However, there are Gneiss from the former Cambria in the south, and Schist that is one of Dansanehung in the north.
- The shapes of stones in Jucksan-myun, Gumgwang-myun, and Seowun-myun seem to be formed from gneiss development of the combination of shale and sandstone in the former Cambria era. The nature of stone in the black cloud root gneiss is medium and has small layer patterns.

3. Weather

(1) Weather overview
Anseong's weather pattern is infected slowly by the north and the south, since the location is in the middle of Korea. It's geographical feature with Cha-Ryung mountains and wide field can stand for its weather.

(2) Temperature
- Korea has a continental climate with a big temperature gap, since summer is hot and humid while winter is cold and dry. The average temperature of august is 25 degree Celsius, with a little variance along areas, which are about 26 degree Celsius in the south, and 24 degree Celsius in the areas of mid and northwest.
- The seasonal winds from the northwest blow the Korean peninsular during winter very cold; the warmest area, Jeju Province is at 5-6 degree Celsius, 0~2 degree Celsius in the south coast, -2~-6 degree Celsius in the mid area.

(3) Rainfall
- Average yearly rainfall of ten years ('90-'99) was 1,315.7mm in Anseong that is appropriate for rice agriculture and other crops farming.
Rice cultivation particularly requires more than 1,000mm of rainfall in a year, and Anseong tends to have this requirement. Moreover, it's most of the rainfall is covered in June, July and August when rice fulfills the most of its growth, so Anseong is producing great quality of Gyeonggi Rice.

(4) Wind
- Anseong also is affected by the seasonal winds as other areas in Korea. The wind of winter is from the northwest continent, which is very cold and dry, and causes both the clear and severely cold weather.
- The northwest wind normally starts in September, peaks of this top through November to next January, and ends in March, although it varies slightly every year.
