Regular Vehicle Inspection
Vehicle comprehensive inspection and regular inspection cycles
For non-business passenger cars, you are required to undergo regular vehicle inspection in the 4th year. After the first 4 years, you are required to undergo comprehensive vehicle inspection every 2 years.
When using mobile devices you can check the contents by moving the table laterally.

※ Within 31 days before and after the expiration date of the effective inspection period shown in the vehicle registration certificate, you are required to have your vehicle inspected at the vehicle inspection center of the Korean Transportation Safety Authority or at the designated vehicle maintenance shops.
Administrative disposition
Imposition of fines
- Within 30 days from the expiration date of the required inspection period: 20,000 won
- For more than 30 days after the expiration date of the required inspection period, 10,000 won will be charged for every excess of three days, or up to 300,000 won.
- If the fine is paid within the deadline for submitting requirements, it shall be reduced to within 20/100, and if not paid, a fine up to 77% surcharge shall be collected.
Penalty
- If you fail to undergo regular inspection even after the order is issued, the license plate may be confiscated, pursuant to Article 37, Paragraph 3 of the Automobile Management Act. In accordance with Article 81, Paragraph 2 of the same Act, you will be sentenced to up to one year of imprisonment or a fine of up to 3 million won.
