Anseong is the first production area in South Korea to cultivate a general variety of grapes.
In 1901 (the 38th year of King Gojong's reign), Anseong grape cultivation was initiated when Father Gombert of the Anseong Catholic Church planted a grape tree in the premises of the church in order to prepare Mass wine. Later, due to Anseong's soil, climate and other conditions that are ideal for cultivating grapes, Anseong was able to mass-produce grapes.
Anseong grape boasts of a history of over 100 years, and in honor of its history, the Grape Museum held a festival to allow visitors to taste its grapes, and offered different programs for them to enjoy a wide array of experiences.
